Big Day

Five years ago today, in the morning Hawaii-time, Evan and I were sealed in the Laie, HI temple. It's hard to believe it's already been five years! Happy Anniversary, Evan!

Four years ago today, at 5:10 PM Texas time, our little Spencer was born. I was induced at 6AM, and was determined to do it all natural. By about 2 PM, with unbearable contractions and very little progress, I finally gave in and begged for an epidural. It was smooth sailing after that! Born 6 lbs, 6 oz, he came into the world curious. He still is today. "Why? " is his favorite word. Here he is the day he was born:
And here he is today:Happy Brirthday, Spencer!

I made an easter dress for Waimea. Some of you may be shocked when you see it. Yes, it's pink. I bought pink fabric. I never thought I would do that. But I did. Waimea is so inherently girly, and I think some of it is wearing off on me. Who'd have thought that would ever happen?

So we tried to take a picture of her in it, but she just would not cooperate and look cute. And that's because we took her binky out to do it. We recently had to buy her some new binkies because her old ones were getting holes in them. And we used to only let her have her binky during nap and at night, but now she begs for it all day. "Ginky" is her new favorite word. So here she is, all cute and upset:
And here she is all happy with her "ginky":Here are pictures of our easter egg hunt with the Engstroms:

Back to the Zoo

For family home evening we reviewed some stories from the gospel picture art gallery. It's been a good six months since we did this, but Spencer still remembers the stories--in his way, of course. In addition to Adam and Eve being at the zoo (as posted sometime last fall), today Spencer saw this picture:

and said, "It's Noah and the animals going on a field trip in the boat back to the zoo."

Fun Times with Pappa

Pappa (Finnish for "grandpa") came last weekend for a short visit after one of his conferences. We had a nice, relaxing weekend. Lots of walks (he's an exercise maniac but takes a "break" on vacation), and lots of jet-lagged naps throughout the day, but also lots of fun with the kids. And, with Pappa, there are always funny stories to tell.

-Spencer begged him to sleep in his room. I'm sure he was soon regretting it--Spencer kept waking up, trying to wake up Pappa, saying, "Stop snoring, Pappa." But to no avail--Pappa slept right through it.

-Sunday morning he talked Pappa into making Finnish pancakes, during which he made the claim, "Pappa can do everything." It's true, too. Aside from dealing with electronics, singing, dancing (especially hula), and a few other things, Pappa really does know how to do everything. :)

-Waimea welcomed him into our home by christening his shoes with her presence. -Thanks to Pappa, Spencer can now color inside the lines. -We coaxed him into playing bowling on the Wii. It was the first video game I've ever seen him play (he claims he played the Atari with us as kids, but I don't remember).
-Watching Wall-E
-Waimea mooching breakfast off PappaThanks for visiting, Pappa!
