Question of the day

What happens when you mix a gym bag left on the floor with make-up inside
with a two-year old with not enough to do?

Slow Sundays

Spencer: "Mommy, did you already eat breakfast?"

me: "No, it's fast Sunday today. Mommy and Daddy don't eat breakfast or lunch on fast Sundays."

[long pause while he processes that]

Spencer: "Only on slow Sundays?"

Dining Room Re-do

Are you ready for this?

Dining room before:

Dining room after:
(Please ignore the one spot on the wall that still needs a coat of paint--I realize it's there and will get to it eventually. Ignore the holes in the ceiling, too.)

What we did: remove the wallpaper. Found mold. Had the far left wall and insulation replaced. Put up new drywall on far left wall. Painted. Textured and painted the ceiling. Installed new travertine flooring, new light fixture, new outlets, light switches and covers. Designed, installed, caulked, and painted the wainscoting. And there you have it. About two weeks worth of work spread out over 2 1/2 years. (And it's still not done). But good enough for now. MUCH better than before.

Spencer's Question of the Day

I think my going back to school has confused Spencer. Tonight, while in bed, he called out to me, "Mommy, when you're as old as Daddy, do you want to be a bus driver or a doctor?"

Should I tell him I'm already older than Daddy?

And just so you know, he wants to be a bus driver.
